In industrial environments, some applications expose materials to temperatures that ordinary tapes cannot withstand.
This is where high-temperature adhesive tapes become essential — offering safe bonding and long-term durability.
However, not all heat-resistant tapes are the same. Here's what to consider when choosing the right one:
1. OPERATING TEMPERATURE RANGE
Every tape is designed for a specific temperature window.
Silicone adhesive tapes: typically range from -50°C to +260°C
Acrylic adhesives: withstand up to 120°C–150°C
Rubber-based adhesives: suitable for medium temps (up to 80–100°C)
Is your application short-term heat exposure or continuous high heat? This matters.
2. CARRIER MATERIAL
Temperature resistance depends on both the adhesive and the backing:
PTFE (Teflon): non-stick surface + high heat
Polyimide (PI): ideal for electrical insulation and heat (e.g., Kapton tapes)
Aluminum foil: reflective and conductive
Glass cloth reinforced tapes: perfect for oven and surface contact
3. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Beyond heat, consider:
Humidity
Chemical exposure
UV and ozone
Flame contact
Example: Silicone-based Teflon tapes offer both thermal and chemical resistance.
4. SURFACE TYPE & APPLICATION METHOD
Flat, non-porous surfaces suit film tapes
Textured or uneven surfaces may require mesh or reinforced options
For automated systems, roll consistency and thickness uniformity are crucial
